Earth, Air, Fire, Water

This November, a themed installation of my paintings entitled “Earth, Air, Fire, Water” will be on display at the Brewster Ladies Library.

Last year, while hiking in the New England woods, I was inspired by the various patterns I saw in nature, such as the grooved bark on a tree or the diamond-shaped sparkles on wind-blown water. I took some photos and experimented with painting the patterns as abstract images. That led to the idea of a series based on the core elements of earth, air, fire, and water. I decided to follow my inspiration and see what it would bring. Nature has always played a big part in my compositions, and to work with nature’s elements as a theme brought deep satisfaction. I hope my paintings bring you some pleasure, too!
